Dr. Allison Mader is interested in the intersection between politics and literature. Most recently, she has been invested in using Edward Said’s theory to explore the representation of Muslim women in Western popular culture after 9/11 and how various postcolonial authors have responded to or engaged with such representations. More generally, she is dedicated to teaching narratives that ask us to think about power, privilege, and positionality. She can also answer your MLA citation questions and is eager to talk to you about pop culture and quality television.
