The Dr. David Lawless Award for Scholarly Achievement is awarded to a member of the full-time faculty at St. Mary’s University in recognition of major scholarly achievements.

A prolific scholar, Dr. Timothy Harvie has earned this award with his dedication and passion. He has published extensively in the diverse fields of social justice, political theology, embodiment, the political economy, and animal theology. Most notably, he has established himself as one of the world’s leading scholars in the emerging field of eco-theology, which draws upon the disciplines of philosophy and religious studies to (re)consider the ethics of human interaction with the non-human world. Dr. Harvie’s extensive publications include the recently published Encountering Earth: Thinking Theologically With a More-Than-Human World.
