This 1-day workshop may be an introduction or a chance for you to revisit the process of laying patent gold leaf successfully, and texturing it in a variety of ways. Using thinned PVA as the base medium, we will use an array of tools and experiment with various papers to create a series of samples and a decorated letter.
The range of applications and effects may surprise you. Participants will create flat (thin) leafed designs in 2 colors of gold leaf and palladium leaf, on paper, and burnish (to create a brilliant shine) or texture our designs with paper or cloth to create dimension with subtle debossing or goffering.
Suzanne Moore: is one of 3 Americans on the team who created contemporary interpretive illuminations for The Saint John’s Bible, the Wales-based project led by Donald Jackson. Commissioned by the Abbey at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, this is the first hand-written and illuminated Bible created in 500 years.
