Service learning is a significant component of Conservation. Each student is placed with a local conservation organization to both conduct some research or develop some materials for the benefit of the organization as well as learn something. Projects this year included; researching laws about off road vehicles to help develop more comprehensive local laws, developing an experiment to compare the use of wire or paint to deter beavers from felling trees, developing materials about conservation for elementary teachers, monitoring plots in Weaselhead for invasive species, and surveying for flood debris along the Bow River and organizing a community cleanup. Students shared the diversity of what they had been doing this fall.
