St. Mary’s University’s alumni gathered at Dixon’s Public House on Thursday, July 16, 2015 to hear about the new and exciting direction of the Alumni Relations Program. The event, which reconnected St. Mary’s with many of its alumni, showcased upcoming alumni initiatives and welcomed alumni input with regards to the direction and future of the program.
The Alumni Relations Program, which has been relatively dormant since St. Mary’s official name change in November of 2014, has been restructured and is focusing more on the important role that alumni play in the St. Mary’s community. With a strategy in place, the Alumni Relations Program is committed to hosting fun and engaging activities that reconnect alumni with St. Mary’s.
With St. Mary’s continued growth comes an increasing number of proud StMU Alumni, and the July 16th event was the first of many occasions planned to engage with this dynamic group. The St. Mary’s Alumni Relations Program is also looking forward to engaging with the Calgary community as we seek to give back and participate as a group in local philanthropic initiatives.
The Alumni Kick Starter event communicated the changes that are taking place with this program, and proved to be a night full of reminiscing about the past while also planning for the future. The pub night also served as a platform for Ashley Hartley and Erin McQuitty, coordinators of the Alumni Relations Program, to announce some initiatives the program hopes to achieve by the end of 2016. These include showcasing alumni profiles, publications, events, and volunteer opportunities.
