How Can We Help?

Learning Centre The Learning Centre is a welcoming place where you can study, use the computers, meet with a peer-tutor and enhance your academic writing and course content comprehension. You can also discuss with our staff any academic issues such as note taking, time management, essay writing or any other school-related questions!

These academic supports are free to all students. Click the links below to access the booking calendars.

  • Peer Tutor – one to one appointments. Tutors are students who have been successful in their course work and have been recommended by faculty. They can provide assistance and advice to better understand how to navigate your university experience, how to approach a writing assignment, or master difficult course content. Tutors provide a student perspective and can help you to build the academic skills required to be successful at university. Appointments can be booked in 30 minute time slots; please come prepared with your questions and materials. Students can share their questions in advance to allow their mentor to best prepare for their appointment.
  • Success Seminars – a series of workshops hosted by faculty and staff at StMU on topics that can support your success. Topics include such things as academic writing, research skills, time management, and wellness. Available seminars are updated each semester.

The C114 student study room is a shared space equipped with computers, scanners and printers available for student use. C114A is the office of the Academic Access Coordinator who is available to all students who wish to discuss academic concerns or explore academic strategies for success. The Academic Access Coordinator also works to support students with disabilities or mental health challenges in their coursework and classroom experience, sometimes by implementing academic accommodations.
