Oct 31st 2015…Lethbridge AB- The small but determined Lightning Cross Country team had great results at the ACAC Cross Country Championships in Lethbridge on Saturday October 31.
All four athletes had their best performances of the season, a testament to the consistent training they have done over the last 2 months.
In the women’s 5 km race, Randi Thiessen placed 38th in a time of 23:39, her first sub 24 minute clocking. Tanis Lefebvre was 54th in a time of 28:13, 3 minutes faster than her performance on the same course in September.
In the men’s 8 km race, Chris White-Gloria ran a very strong race to finish 16th and qualify to represent St. Mary’s at the CCAA Cross Country championships in Brockville, Ontario on November 14th. His time of 29:46 was his first ever sub 30 minute performance for an 8 km XC race. This will be White-Gloria’s second time representing St. Mary’s at the national championships.
Logan Pearce had a huge breakthrough race to place 35th in a time of 34:22. His time was a 7 minute improvement over his time on the same course in September.
The team will continue with cross country training until Nationals, then base training over the winter and spring to be in a good position for further improvements next season.
