Earlier this semester, St. Mary’s University students Montana Espanioli, Cara Carter, Chelsea Miske, Laurisa Seney and Ashley Codd attended the official launch of the SPIRIT of Vimy at the Military Museums of Calgary. A room-sized Vimy Ridge topographical floor map provided by the Canadian Geographic Society, the exhibit is intended to help Alberta youth better understand the role, contribution and sacrifice that Canadians made in that pivotal battle of April 1917. The exhibit was launched by Lois Mitchell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.

History student Chelsea Miske participated in a 30-hour community history program at the Military Museums, thanks to an innovative partnership engineered by Dr. Gayle Thrift. Such work-placements distinguish an important feature of many St. Mary’s University degree programs.

Interested students are encouraged to speak with Dr. Gayle Thrift about future opportunities.
