University Donates 100 Teddy Bears for 22nd Annual Teddy Bear Toss Fundraiser at Hitmen vs Hurricanes
CALGARY –St. Mary’s University is sponsoring an Alumni Event at the Calgary Hitmen’s 22nd annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday November 26 at 2pm. As soon as the Hitmen score their first goal of the game, fans will throw thousands of stuffed animals onto the ice. The toys will be distributed among some 60 charities that serve children at Christmas, including the Alberta Children’s Hospital, the Salvation Army, and Stephen’s Backpacks Society.
St. Mary’s is donating 100 teddy bears to the event in recognition of the fact that the Hitmen players are enrolled in a special section of the university’s management 291 course, designed to fit within their schedule and to help them plan for a future beyond hockey.
“We are very proud that all Calgary Hitmen players take a class at St. Mary’s University, and are so pleased to contribute to this joyful Calgary tradition,” says Bob Hann, Vice-President of Student Services.
The university has reserved a block of 100 tickets for the game and will be represented by Alumni, Students, staff and faculty.
