St. Mary’s University Bachelor of Education students were visited by the Alberta Minister of Education, the Honourable David Eggen, who engaged the students in a discussion about the present and future of teaching in Alberta.

The Minister of Education was very complimentary of the BEd program and the quality of the graduates say that the bar at St. Mary’s has been set quite high. He encouraged the students to maintain that level of excellence in their studies and while out in the field as they shape the future leaders of tomorrow.

The students enjoyed the personal interaction with the minister and did not hesitate to ask questions and express their interests as well as concerns for the future of education in the province.
It was the first such visit by this minister but almost certainly not the last as St. Mary’s University’s Bachelor of Education program continues to be a leader in developing some of the most sought after teaching candidates in the province.
