The Lightning women’s basketball team is red hot right now, and currently riding a 12 game winning streak. The women started out a little sluggish on Friday night with a 16-13 point score in the first quarter but from there turned on the jets to score 78 more points throughout the game. Montana Romeril lead the way on Friday night with 34 points, but the story of the night was MJ Ritchie grabbing her 11th rebound of the game and breaking the ACAC all time rebounding record of 892 rebounds. Saturday night started much the same way, Ambrose came out swinging and stuck with the Lightning up to half time with a slim 46-39 lead. However after halftime the Lightning came out determined outplaying their opponents to a 48-22 half and ultimately winning 94-61. Montana Romeril had another performance, posting 40 points on the night.
MJ increased her career rebounding totals with 7 more on Saturday night sitting at 899 all time with two games left to play.

Still building as a team the men have had tough battles all season long. The ACAC is one of the premier leagues in the nation and the South conference has three nationally ranked programs to compete against. This newly formed squad has shown signs of improvement with each game but ultimately the men fell just short this weekend again. Friday night saw a 90-70 defeat although the Lightning men were within seven points in the third quarter. Saturday night the men bounced back and were much better however some timely mistakes down the stretch and turnovers really cost the team. Halftime of Saturday’s game saw the Lightning down just one point however, coming out of halftime Ambrose rose up and increased the pressure and went on a 17-2 run to start the second half. Lightning men fought back closing the gap to 11points but ran out of time and ultimately came up short with a final score of 103-89.
