St. Mary’s University saw record breaking attendance numbers on July 9, 2015 for our annual Stampede Breakfast. Doubling our numbers from last year, St. Mary’s saw around 2,000 people come out for pancakes, live music, and activities for young cowpokes.
The annual breakfast brings the community together and allows St. Mary’s to say thank you for the community’s support while also celebrating one of Calgary’s oldest traditions- Stampede. St. Mary’s may be a small university in size, but its heart is large. St. Mary’s appreciation for the community is great, and there is no better way to say thank you than pancakes and fun on a hot day.
A large thank you goes out to our staff, faculty, and student volunteers who flipped pancakes under the hot sun or ran the children’s activities. We would also like to thank MLA Mr. Graham Sucha for helping flip pancakes, Denis Grady and his team for the live music, and to the Knights of Columbus who brought members to help flip pancakes and keep the line moving quickly. Another thank you goes out to the Midnapore Fire Station for bringing three trucks onto campus and having fun with the children, as well as Calgary EMS for bringing a team out to showcase their job. Prizes and water were donated kindly by Landmark Cinemas and McLeod Law.
It will be a Stampede Breakfast you won’t want to miss next year!
