Cley Perrett

Born in Lethbridge and raised in Okotoks, I grew up as the middle child of five brothers, all of whom played basketball. My journey into the sport started early, at the age of four, when my mom ran youth basketball camps, and I quickly developed a passion for the game.

My typical training routine revolves around getting shots up for hours, refining my skills and focusing on the fundamentals. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to have two influential coaches who shaped my game. The first is Ivor Lewis, who started coaching me in grade 6 and continued through high school during the club season. Ivor instilled in me the mental toughness I needed and helped me develop a strong basketball IQ. The second is Dave Singleton, who I began working with in my grade 11 year. Dave played a key role in helping me build the skills and confidence necessary to take my game to the next level.

Unfortunately, my grade 11 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and shortly after high school, I chose to serve a two-year mission for my church. This resulted in three years without organized basketball, which made it a challenge to get back into the rhythm and groove of the game. However, my dedication and love for the sport eventually helped me find my flow once again.

Outside of basketball, I love spending time outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, surfing, or skiing, I make the most of every opportunity to enjoy nature and keep active when I’m not on the court.

As I continue my athletic journey, I carry the lessons I’ve learned from my coaches and experiences, always striving to improve and grow both as a player and as a person.
