You are invited to become a member of the St. Mary’s University Prayer Guild. A community united in prayer for the life, mission, and people of St. Mary’s University.
Members of the Prayer Guild commit to:
- Praying regularly for the intentions of St. Mary’s University
- Lifting up the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and broader community
- Supporting our mission as a Catholic university through faithful intercession
Guild members seek God’s providential care and divine intercession for our students, alumni, faculty, staff, leadership, Board of Governors, donors, supporters, families, and friends.
About the Prayer Guild
The St. Mary’s University Prayer Guild is a spiritual initiative rooted in the Catholic tradition of intercessory prayer, open to all members of the St. Mary’s community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and friends.
The Prayer Guild provides a concrete and intentional way for members of our community to participate in this mission—uniting in prayer so that St. Mary’s may flourish under the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Together, we lift up the needs, intentions, and blessings of the University, deepening our communal bonds and supporting a culture of faith, hope, and service. Whether you are new to prayer or have long been rooted in it, the Prayer Guild offers a meaningful way to support St. Mary’s and its mission through faithful intercession.
Here’s how it works
Weekly Commitment
- Set aside 15–20 minutes once per week
- Pray intentionally for St. Mary’s University and its needs
- Include any shared or confidential prayer intentions
Through this shared rhythm, Guild members collectively ensure that the entire University is continually covered in prayer
Monthly Commitment
Guild members are also invited to offer:
- Five decades of the Rosary
- One Mass
- One hour of Eucharistic Adoration
These prayers are offered for the needs, protection, and flourishing of the University community.

Gracious God, source of wisdom and compassion, we ask you to bestow your goodness on St. Mary’s University. You create everything in love. You manifest that love fully in Jesus, the child of Mary.
May Your Holy Spirit keep us attentive to your presence so that we may become true in our innermost being, wise through our study and research, generous in our relationships with all people, and constant in our pursuit of justice. We give you thanks for the gift of our existence and your call to be stewards of creation and servants of all humankind. Now and forever.

Stone by stone
I have known St. Mary’s University (StMU) in many ways.
I was once a student. One of my daughters is now a student. My brother-in-law began his academic career at St. Mary’s. My father-in-law was one of the founding visionaries who helped bring StMU to life.
My most important role, however, is this: I am a friend and a prayer warrior for the vision of St. Mary’s University: to become the preeminent Catholic university in Canada.
