Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, I was immersed in the world of sports from a young age, thanks to a family deeply involved in athletic endeavors. My parents instilled in me the belief that giving 100% in every aspect of life and showing up consistently would lead to success. Their emphasis on hard work and dedication has become the foundation of my basketball journey.

I began playing basketball later than many, starting in ninth grade after transitioning from a career in competitive gymnastics. This shift was driven by my desire to be part of a team and maintain the competitive edge and camaraderie that sports provided. Throughout high school, I balanced basketball with other sports, finding that basketball particularly resonated with me.

My training routine is a well-rounded mix of on-court practice, strength and conditioning, and mental preparation. I focus on physical readiness through weightlifting and extra gym sessions, while also dedicating time to reviewing game film and listening to podcasts to stay mentally sharp and confident.

Significant mentors in my athletic development include my family, who have been unwavering in their support, and Abdell, who transitioned from trainer to coach and played a pivotal role in my growth as a player. Andreas, my strength coach, has been instrumental in both physical conditioning and shaping my mental approach to the game, helping me become the player I am today.

I am driven by the desire to inspire young athletes, particularly as a young Black woman in the sport. I want to show the next generation that they can achieve greatness in any field they choose. My short-term goal is to compete at nationals and challenge myself against Canada’s top athletes, while my long-term aspiration is to play overseas, experiencing basketball at an international level and pushing my limits further.

Balancing my athletic career with other aspects of life requires strong time management skills. I prioritize my commitments, adhere to a structured schedule, and make sure to allocate time for rest and recovery, which is essential for maintaining overall well-being.

To young athletes aspiring to follow in my footsteps, my advice is to never let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve your goals. With dedication, hard work, and a love for the game, you can make anything happen. Strive to be 1% better each day and surround yourself with people who believe in and support your dreams.

One crucial lesson I’ve learned is to embrace every challenge and setback as an opportunity for growth. Although it might be difficult to see at the time, these moments build resilience and character. Trust the process, stay patient, and keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.
