Kendal Russell

Born in Lethbridge, I discovered my passion for basketball in grade 8. The competitive nature of the game captivated me, and I’ve been deeply committed to the sport ever since.

My journey has not been without its challenges. In 2017, during my grade 11 year, I tore my first ACL, and in 2020, I suffered a second ACL tear while playing at SAIT. These injuries were significant setbacks, but they provided me with a fresh perspective on health and the privilege of playing the game. Returning to the court has taught me to cherish every opportunity and strive to be the best version of myself.

Looking ahead, I aspire to transition into coaching. I’m passionate about using my experience and love for the game to inspire and mentor other athletes, helping them achieve their goals just as I have pursued mine.

One crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of training the mind alongside the body. There’s always more strength and resilience within us; it’s about finding that extra drive and harnessing it effectively.
