St. Mary’s University Unveils New 18-hole Disc Golf Course

CALGARY,  St. Mary’s University is thrilled to announce the official opening of a new disc golf course on its scenic campus. This 9-basket, 18-hole layout promises an exciting and challenging experience for disc golf enthusiasts of all skill levels. The course was developed in partnership with the esteemed Calgary Disc Golf Club and features a variety of elevation changes, open lines, and heavily wooded areas, offering a diverse and engaging playing environment.

“We are incredibly excited to offer this new recreational opportunity to both our students and the broader Calgary community,” said Dr. Sinda Vanderpool, President of St. Mary’s University. “This course embodies our commitment to promoting active lifestyles and providing inclusive, accessible outdoor activities.”

The new disc golf course is a permanent installation and is now open to the public, free of charge. Players will find a well-designed layout that integrates seamlessly with the natural beauty of the St. Mary’s campus, featuring scenic views and thoughtfully placed baskets that enhance the overall experience.

“This project has been a labor of love, and we couldn’t have achieved it without the expertise and dedication of the Calgary Disc Golf Club,” said Nathan Ruff, Director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Mary’s University. “Their knowledge and passion for the sport were instrumental in creating a course that will be enjoyed for years to come.”

Members of the Calgary Disc Golf Club expressed their enthusiasm about the collaboration. “Working with St. Mary’s University to bring this course to life has been a fantastic experience,” said James Kozumi, Executive Director of the Calgary Disc Golf Club. “We believe this course will be a significant addition to Calgary’s growing disc golf community, offering a unique mix of challenges that cater to a wide range of players.”
