Growing up in Manitoba and on Vancouver Island, Dr. Larsen’s love for biology was sparked by exploring rivers, lakes, forests, prairies and the ocean. It was hockey that brought her to Alberta though. She played for the Dinos and completed her B.Sc. in Biological Sciences and M.Sc. in Ecology at the University of Calgary. As a teaching assistant in grad school, she enjoyed connecting with students over a mutual fascination with the living world and discovered a passion for teaching in hands on learning environments such as in the lab and the field. That passion led her to the biology lab here at St. Mary’s University, where she has been the Biology Lab Coordinator since 2014. When she’s not at work, she enjoys gardening, reading, playing hockey, walking her dog, spending time with her family in the outdoors.
