Trisa Soroski
Sessional Lecturer
Trisa Soroski is the inaugural Executive Director of the Woitas Centre for Inclusive Education at St. Mary’s University. Drawing on more than three decades of K–12 teaching and leadership experience, she approaches her role with a practical perspective shaped by a genuine appreciation for the daily realities of the classroom.
Trisa earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Research with a specialization in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary. Following her degree, she co-developed standards for the department’s certificate in Assistive Technology for Learning, while also designing and teaching undergraduate courses on creating inclusive learning environments.
In her work with future educators, she models experiential and collaborative practices through intentional course design and multidisciplinary approaches. She champions play-based pedagogy and actively embeds Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into classroom instruction, providing students with multiple, ongoing opportunities for engagement, representation, action, and expression, while encouraging student collaboration and innovation.
Grounded in her perspective as a Catholic educator, she believes each person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Driven by the conviction that all children can learn, she advocates passionately for inclusive learning environments where every student feels welcomed, supported, capable, and empowered to excel.
