Robyn Pashula, A Behind-the-Scenes Leader Driving Excellence at St. Mary’s University

As St. Mary’s University prepares for its President’s Gala on March 6th, in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the spotlight shines on women in leadership—those who are paving the way for future generations. In this spotlight, we are proud to feature Robyn Pashula, Executive Assistant to the President and University Secretary, whose role behind the scenes is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of St. Mary’s University.

Robyn Pashula

A Lifelong Commitment to Service

From a young age, Robyn has been a dedicated member of the Catholic community. Her leadership experience spans several impactful organizations, including Clear Water Academy, the One Rock Festival, the St. Francis Xavier Chaplaincy, and FacetoFace Ministries. Holding a degree in Communication – Information Design, Robyn brings a rich set of skills that elevate her role as Executive Assistant. Her work extends far beyond typical administrative duties, as her unique position within the President’s office allows her to contribute to strategic initiatives, advance the university’s mission, and help foster a culture of hospitality and collaboration.

Leadership through Service and Strategic Vision

“When I consider that I am part of a movement that is bigger than myself, I am more readily in the mindset to serve the mission and the people of the St. Mary’s community,” Robyn shares. Whether it’s supporting the Expanding Minds, Inspiring Hearts five-year strategic plan, coordinating the Mary’s Festival, or working with the Board of Governors, Robyn approaches each project with a sense of joy and purpose.

Her leadership style is characterized by active listening, a genuine interest in the needs of others, and a steadfast commitment to confidentiality. “There are so many great people at this university, and it is not difficult to want to work well with others,” she notes. Robyn’s influence is seen not only in the operational excellence of the President’s office but also in the relationships she builds across departments and with external constituents.

A central part of Robyn’s approach to leadership is her focus on mentorship. Though much of her work involves supporting the President and senior leaders, she also invests time in working with other executive and administrative assistants. “I hope to increase opportunities to offer mentorship as my time at St. Mary’s grows,” she says. “It is humbling to recognize that I could be in a position to mentor others, but as I think about the mentorship I have received, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to offer what I know in support and encouragement of others.”

Like many women in leadership, Robyn acknowledges the challenges of balancing a high-level role with personal life. She is intentional about maintaining non-negotiable routines—attending mass and weekly adoration, spending time with family, and staying active — to create a sense of consistency amidst her dynamic work environment.

Spirit-filled Leadership

When asked what advice she would offer to young women aspiring to leadership roles, Robyn speaks from the heart: “Before I can do great things, I have to know who I am. My faith has been the anchor in my life that offers the confidence and peace that comes from knowing that I am loved by God.” Her message is one of authenticity, resilience, and the importance of letting faith guide one’s journey through life.

As we look ahead to the President’s Gala, Robyn Pashula’s story reminds us that leadership is not always about being in the spotlight. Sometimes, it is about being the steady hand behind the scenes, creating opportunities for others, and quietly helping to shape the future of the institution.
