Mary’s Stampede BreakFEST Brings Campus and Community Together

Combining the traditions of a classic Stampede Breakfast with family-friendly activities, live music, and a local marketplace, St. Mary’s University hosted its first Mary’s Stampede BreakFEST on July 8.

Under blue skies, over 2000 students, faculty, staff, alumni, neighbours, and friends gathered to enjoy fluffy pancakes, Spolombos sausages, coffee and other refreshments prepared by our incredible sponsors, Heroic Men.

Guests discovered unique treasures at the marketplace featuring local businesses and Indigenous artists, enjoyed live music performances by country artists Jaiden Riley and Meeks and even learned a few line dancing moves. Kids—and kids at heart—enjoyed facepainting, balloon animals, and an Indigenous craft station.

“It was incredible to see so many people from our campus and the surrounding community come together to celebrate,” said Dr. Scott Morrison, St. Mary’s University President. “This was my first Stampede Breakfast on campus as President, and it was a wonderful showcase of community that makes this university so special.”

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our volunteers, performers, marketplace vendors, sponsors, staff, and faculty whose hard work made the event possible. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Your enthusiasm and support helped make the first Mary’s Stampede BreakFEST a memorable one, and we can’t wait to welcome you back next year. Yahoo!
